JAMA's  self-created acronym derived from the initials of his given name, middle name, last name, and mother’s maiden name. Much like the artist himself, the name JAMA exudes a unique rhythm and powerful identity.

JAMA began his academic journey at the University of Havana, where he pursued a degree in geography. Immersed in an intellectual and creative community, he formed lasting connections with painters, mathematicians, musicians, biologists, and scholars from various disciplines. After five years of study, JAMA made the bold decision to leave academia to follow his passion for writing. During this time, he authored two novels and dedicated himself to extensive reading, seeking answers to life's profound questions.

Through this journey of exploration and self-discovery, JAMA recognized his creative calling: to bring joy, awe, and wonder into the world through art. Inspired by Aristotle's treatises, he embraced his identity as an artist, channeling his creativity into works that resonate with beauty, rhythm, and the essence of human experience.

"Life is seen in the form of a circle," says JAMA, reflecting a profound philosophy that underpins much of his work. His early drawings embraced circular shapes, which he sees as symbolic of the interconnectedness of all things—from the vastness of the universe to the intimacy of the human form. For JAMA, circles are more than just shapes; they are a lens through which the interior and exterior worlds of objects and individuals are understood.

While circles remain a central motif, JAMA’s affinity extends to all simple geometric shapes, which he regards as the fundamental building blocks of existence. His creative process is unbounded by conventional mediums. Canvas and paper are only the beginning—everyday surfaces, from furniture to his own two-door SAAB, have become vibrant, bold expressions of his artistic vision, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.
